Responsibilities: Oversee Bucknell’s digital library and institutional repository programs. Manage all work related to metadata; library systems/technology for digital asset management and Special Collections/University Archives; development and implementation of new technology tools for these areas. Member of the library’s senior management group. Serve in a leadership role in the library’s strategic planning, program and policy development, grant development,and recruiting. Report to the Director of Library Services.
Leader of the Facilitating Learning Group, a group comprised of librarians, instructional technologists, and administrators to coordinate information literacy and technology fluency efforts; improving course-related instructional efforts; and incorporating current pedagogical trends such as active learning and problem-based learning into an integrated information literacy and technology fluency program.
Manage two administrative FTE (one librarian, one programmer) as well as work by other librarians and staff members as their work pertains to metadata, digitization, and institutional repository collections. Digital Initiatives Librarian — Bucknell University
Lewisburg, PA. 2003 – 2006.
Responsibilities: Planned, implemented, and managed Bucknell’s digital library program. Oversaw all aspects of program planning, implementation, and development. Led a campus-wide needs-assessment and subsequent process to select a digital image management system. Served as project manager to build Bucknell’s digital image collections. Formulated processes for the digital library including project selection, project management, project implementation. All processes heavily rely on collaboration between librarian(s), instructional technologist(s), faculty, and students. Oversee metadata implementations for all digital collection work. Aim to balance industry standards with pedagogical uses of digital objects.
Created and oversaw the Digital Projects Internship, an internship designed to give a current library/information science graduate student an opportunity to gain experience working with digital objects, metadata, and digitization technology. Created an in-house training program for traditional catalogers to learn about metadata and become integrated in metadata production for digital projects.

Computer Services Librarian — Venable Law Ofices Washington, DC. August 2002 – August 2003.
Responsibilities: Managed technical services for the library, including managing electronic journals and databases, the online catalog, and the library’s Intranet web presence. Implemented the law firm’s first integrated library system. Led process to catalog the library’s entire collection. Negotiated contracts with vendors, handled budget and billing for electronic resources, and coordinated training for attorneys to use online resources.

Librarian II/Investigative Researcher, CNN Investigation Team
CNN Headquarters. Atlanta, GA. 2001 – 2002.
Responsibilities: Lead librarian involved in the Investigation Team during the immediate aftermath of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Provided research for producers and correspondents, fact-checked scripts, assisted with production of on-air packages. Provided in-depth research for longer pieces, including several hour-long specials detailing investigations into the money trail; suspect biographies; missed signals; timelines of international and national events related to the terrorist attacks; and the collapse of Enron.
Created a database to track information, images, and documents tied to the team’s research efforts. The database tracked what information had been fact-checked and was approved for use on air, what leads needed further exploration, and other associated notes. Trained correspondents and producers working in the field to access and update the database.
About the CNN Investigation Team: The CNN Investigation Team was created on September 13, 2001 in response to the terrorist attacks on September 11. The team was headquartered in the CNN Center Newsroom in Atlanta and had offices and teams working in locations around the world.
Librarian II, CNN News Library
CNN Headquarters. Atlanta, GA. 2000 – 2001.
Responsibilities: Worked with library management to evaluate and redesign research processes to make the Library more proactive and better prepared to handle coverage. Served as the editorial advisor for the library. Created the Upcoming Events Calendar, a weekly calendar detailing international and domestic news events that was distributed to over 400 members of CNN and affiliates. Served as editor, lead writer, and researcher for the calendar. Oversaw a team of three researchers. Worked with members of the news production staff on related long-term research projects. Represented the library at daily and weekly editorial planning meetings. Worked with executives from various branches of CNN to package the calendar to affiliate stations and CNN Radio affiliates.
Served as co-manager of the Business Research Group. Developed and led needs assessment to determine needs of current clients and gather input from other potential clients who were not using services. Provided business development research for CNN executives and strategic planning departments. Created and organized competitive intelligence research projects. One ongoing project monitored partners, competitors, and related industries to highlight new developments and industry trends.
About the CNN News Library: The Library provides information research for correspondents, producers, and other members of the news production staff. The Library also houses the Video Archive, which contains edited packages, b-roll, and news feeds from CNN since its inception in 1980.

Responsibilities: Provided reference desk coverage to answer video and information requests. Indexed and cataloged video records. Participated in planning processes to create a digital asset management system to ingest, digitize, index, and search/retrieve digital video.

Information Consultant, Techstreet.com (was CSSinfo.com). Ann Arbor, MI. 1998 – 1999. Responsibilities: Developed, designed, and maintained web pages for a business-to-business Internet startup company. Designed taxonomy structure to catalog and organize documents and information on the company’s web site. Assisted in the development of a new search engine for the site.
About Techstreet.com: Techstreet.com sells engineering standards, technical specifications, industry codes, and other documents from several hundred organizations. In 2003, Techstreet was acquired by the Thomson Scientific division of Thomson.
Abby Clobridge is currently the Associate Director of Research and Knowledge Services at the Harvard University, Kennedy School of Government Library. From 2003 to 2009, she was the head of the digital library program at Bucknell University. During this time, she and her colleague, David Del Testa (Assistant Professor, Department of History, Bucknell University) won the 2009 ACRL Instruction Section Innovation Award for their development of the World War II Poster Project.
Abby has over 10 years of experience working library/information science. Prior to joining Bucknell, she worked at CNN as an investigative researcher and news librarian.
Abby is active in the professional library/instructional technology professional community and has spoken at many national and international conferences. Her first book, Building Digital Repositories with Limited Resources, will be published by Chandos in the fall of 2010.
